Long-time Eastern Innovation client iBuild Building Solutions recently hosted two ministers at their manufacturing facility in Heidelberg West.

Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, Danny Pearson MP, visited the facility to announce the opening of applications for the government's expanded Digital Jobs program.

Pearson was joined by Minister for Police, Anthony Carbines MP who attended in his role as the Member for Ivanhoe.

Pearson described the digital landscape as "rapidly evolving."

“This program is ensuring Victoria’s workforce has the critical digital skills we need in key sectors like construction and advanced manufacturing," Pearson said.

The Digital Jobs program is an initiative designed to upskill workers in the construction and manufacturing sectors with digital skills like computer-aided manufacturing, data analytics, and AI.

The program issues free vouchers to successful applicants, allowing them to enrol staff in digital skills courses taught over six weeks.

iBuild trained six staff through the Digital Jobs program in 2023, and were selected as a case study with the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry, and Regions.

iBuild co-founder and CEO, Jackson Yin, said the program was transformational.

"The change for our business has been phenomenal," he said.

iBuild's story began in Jackson's garage, and since expanded enormously since 2014, moving into Eastern Innovation two years later.

Today, iBuild are a multi-award winning supplier of kit homes - like Ikea furniture but for houses, is how Jackson often explains it.

Although Jackson likes to remain humble, iBuild have won numerous awards, and have recently supplied one of their kit homes to a royal palace in Malaysia.

iBuild have described Eastern Innovation as "turbo-charging" their growth, with their head office still headquartered at Eastern Innovation Business Centre.

Jackson Yin is very much a familiar face at Eastern Innovation, and regularly attends events in the community.

He and his team occupy several offices in Eastern Innovation's Jessie Tait building.

From small garage beginnings to an international kit home supplier, iBuild's journey exemplifies how innovative thinking, combined with the right business environment, can transform not just a company, but an entire industry.
